Collection Boxes

I somewhat specialize in the fabrication of containers.
One class of container I build I call a Collection Box.
These are defined as containers that cannot be opened, but allow the contents to be viewed.
Functionally these may be pendants, necklaces, earrings, etc.

Lockets

Another class of container I build is the classic locket.
These are defined as containers that can be opened, allowing the contents to examined.
Functionally these may be pendants, necklaces, earrings, etc.

Secrets

The third class of container I call a secret.
These cannot be opened, and the contents cannot be seen.
The contents are a secret.
If you handle the piece, the presence of a secret will become apparent.
You will know something is there, but you won't know what it is.

Stella is based upon a chassis purchased from Erin (RobotGrrl). The standard chassis contains three servos to activate each of the wings and the beak. To this I've added a two servo pan and tilt mount as well as a web camera. Of course, the eyes light up.

Software

The web camera and the Arduino plug into a laptop runing a python program leveraging OpenCV to do face recognition. The robot tracks detected faces with the pan and tilt and reacts to seeing someone by flapping and chattering. My son enjoyed playing "peak-a-boo" with the bot.
